Le Livre des Chroniques s'inscrit dans le contexte de la troisieme partie de la Bible hébraique, appelée les Écrits. L'auteur des Chroniques, appelé le Chroniste dans ce commentaire, preche a ses contemporains et met en exergue l'importance de chercher Dieu de tout coeur et avec joie.

Le Livre des Chroniques garde sa pertinence de nos jours : le Dieu dont parle le Chroniste est un Dieu inclusif, et le temple, qui est au centre des Chroniques, est ouvert a tous. Ce commentaire met ainsi en relief, entre autres principes, celui selon lequel tous les habitants de la terre ont la meme origine. Dans notre monde ou des antivaleurs comme le racisme, le tribalisme, le ségrégationnisme, etc., sont encore en vogue, le message de la meme origine de tous les humains vaut encore la peine d'etre preché.
